There’s a sense of hope in the celebration of Easter. This year we gathered around our english country dining table, and enjoyed the season at home. Though the festivities started a few days early- sweets were baked on Saturday, and lasagna’s prepped on Good Friday– there is nothing quite like the wafts of a home cooked meal to be shared with family on the glory of Easter Sunday.
I kept our table spread simple this year, with the focus being on light textures and charm. My grandmothers glassware sat upon our white quilted placemats, all of which were anchored together by a neutral, ticking stripe runner. Seasonal Autumn blooms were split among my collected, vintage Mason and Kilner jars- the perfect size vases for when you have a narrower table to decorate with– and sage green candlesticks added height to the setting.
Our menu was simple and hearty, keeping in line with the theme for the day. A light entrèe of lasagna was served first, followed skillet top potatoes, saffron rice, sautèed seasonal vegetables, roast, garlic bread, and plenty of finger food to go round! Tea and coffee were accompanied by homemade jam biscuits, lemon cupcakes, chocolate ripple (an Australian staple), cherry pie, and medallion shaped Italian biscuits, otherwise known as Pizzelle.

Now that the celebration is over, my husband and I will most certainly be partaking in plenty of rest and feeding off all our favourite leftovers!
